I celebrate my birthday with friends and family in Reading and Dorset.
Celebrations begin the week before at The Hope Tap for a beer & burger with Clayton, Frances and Paul, where I'm presented with a selection of birthday cards and gifts including a Marvel Comic Top Trumps, a bubble maker and a blue rubber duck.
The evening before Bobet and I grab a bite at Jamie's Italian restaurant for Spaghetti Bolognese and a beer, before seeing the Man Of Steel in 3D, the new superman film.
On the day, Bobet and I walk into town where Bobet buys a last minute card before our attention turns to breakfast, which can be tricky after midday, but we find a table at Café Rouge, a French restaurant in the Oracle, for Eggs Benedict followed by Coffee and Cake, where I'm presented by Bobet with a Superdry Scuba watch and a Doctor Who birthday card warning me loudly that I'd be exterminated.
In the afternoon I drive myself and Bobet to Gillingham before being transported by my parents to a 17th century pub called The Poachers Inn at Piddletrenthide towards Dorchester. Once there we are greeted by Lee at the bar followed by Debs and the kids by the pool. Soon to arrive are Dani & James, then Guy & Dawn. From our seats in the sun by the pool, we make our way inside to the dining area. On the menu is Stuffed Peppers & Couscous, followed by Shredded Spiced Lamb with Vegetables and Cheesecake for desert, helped down by a few glasses of red wine. After a healthy amount of banter and a knight cap by the bar, we head for home.
