My birthday

42, the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything ...apparently.

I begin a weeklong celebration of my birthday in Dorset where my parents take me out for a Sunday carvery followed by fruit crumble, at The Walnut Tree Inn, Mere.

On Tuesday my parents and I head to The Buffalo Inn, Gillingham, where we meet my brother Guy and his extended family. After a drink near the bar, we are shown to the dining area where gammon steak with egg, chips and peas, followed by bread & butter pudding are on the menu.

On the evening of my birthday Bobet and I meet Frances, Clayton and Paul at The Hope Tap in Reading. As well as birthday cards, I receive a water pistol, a chocolate lollipop and a game of snakes & ladders For dinner we order a sirloin steak with chips, peas and mushrooms. For desert we bring an Avengers (Iron Man, the Hulk etc.) cake to share.
