Ski lesson in Milton Keynes

Bobet and I go skiing on an indoor snow slope in Milton Keynes and stay to watch a movie.

Bobet snaps up a pair of beginner ski lessons at SNO!zone, part of Xscape entertainment centre at Milton Keynes, one of only a few indoor snow slopes in the UK.

After catching the fast train from Euston, taxi to Xscape, checking in at SNO!zone, suiting up in our ski jackets and trousers, fitting for ski boots, skis and safety helmets, we hit the slope. This is a beginner lesson, so it’s all about getting used to the equipment and learning the snow plough. Amazingly half way through the lesson we're told that everyone has passed happy so we spend the rest of the time practising with increasingly tricky tasks to get used to our new skills.

At the end of the lesson we lose our ski gear and chill out with a cold drink on a leather sofa overlooking the slope, realising that once the adrenalin had gone that skiing was quite tiring.

Hunger takes over, so we decide to have a pizza. After a walk around comparing menus we settle at Frankie & Benny's New York Italian restaurant, a 1960’s American themed restaurant - Rock & Roll, photos of boxers and baseball players etc.

After dinner we take a stroll around the complex and a few adventure clothing shops. As the stores begin to close we take a look on the second floor where we find Cineworld. Following a chat and a review of the films on offer we buy tickets for Marvel’s Avengers Assemble in 3D - this movie doesn’t disappoint with the familiar Marvel super heroes, lots of action and laugh out loud comedy moments.

At the end of the evening we grab a taxi and head for the train station. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding of the Virgin only train timetable and the film being longer than expected, we miss our last train home sad
